About Tibi Ellis

A Nevada resident for over a decade, Tibi Ellis has has helped pioneer innovative business practices to achieve success…in both strong and weak economic times.

Tibi’s commitment to doing a job right the first time and helping those who need assistance began at an early age from her experiences with her family growing up in Venezuela. Her parents led by example and demonstrated that individuals have a responsibility to help their fellow citizens and to stand up for the principles they believe in. This firm commitment to principles, independence, and liberty led her to immigrate legally in pursuit of her college degree to the United States when Tibi was just 19 years old.

Tibi has put those early lessons into twenty-five years of experience in the healthcare industry. As the President and CEO for Home Helpers, a home care provider, and Direct Link, a personal emergency response company serving the elderly, convalescing and disabled, Tibi has worked to bring specialized, quality care to those who need it most. Her diverse experience encompasses acute care, ambulatory services, long term care, ancillary services in for profit and non- profit healthcare organizations.

Tibi was also the former CEO for Chesapeake Management, a company that provided healthcare organizations with a variety of services to improve efficiency and service. Under Tibi’s leadership, Chesapeake provided healthcare organizations with guidance ranging from compliance plans or independent reviews and audits, to operational reengineering, performance improvement services, benchmarking, as well as fraud and abuse risk assessment.

It’s this experience and expertise that she seeks to bring to Carson City for the residents of Assembly District 5.

Tibi is currently the Chair and spokesperson for the Nevada Republican National Hispanic Assembly and is assisting on the creation of additional county chapters. She was also instrumental in founding Latinas in Politics and is the immediate past chair for the group. Tibi does not forget that her Hispanic heritage is aligned with the values of the Republican Party.

Tibi works very hard at reminding her fellow Hispanic-Americans that her party is not only the party that has a consistent commitment to preserve their values, but also tirelessly endeavors to ensure that the Hispanic community continues to have equal opportunities and active participation in politics and the success of our country. She is an advocate for Hispanic business owners and the preservation of Hispanic family values as the number one priority together with the exaltation of faith.

Tibi has been a lifelong activist in government and political movements, beginning as a young child in Venezuela with the landmark Presidential election when she was only 18 years old. Increasing voter participation and the accountability of government has been a pursuit of Tibi’s for over three decades.

Tibi has become an integral part of the Las Vegas community and is a sought-after speaker in the area of healthcare, elder care, care giving and the aging. She has served as an Adjunct Professor at several academic institutions and is a respected member of the Latin Chamber of Commerce. Most recently she was awarded Senoras of Excellence for Nevada and was a Fellow with the Silver State Excellence in Public Service Series. Tibi was also appointed by the Governor as a general public board member for the Psychological Board of Examiners in Nevada.

Tibi’s work with the poor through the St. Vincent de Paul Conference in Las Vegas takes her beyond helping people in her parish. In her personal time, she assists those in need who are living alone, are fragile or ill and those who have no family to hold their hand at the time of their death. Her compassion for the elderly and disabled drives her commitment to serve those in need in our community.

Tibi serves the Board of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the St Vincent de Paul Society. She holds an Executive Master degree in Business Administration and a Master degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Colorado, Denver. Tibi is a proud mother of five and grandmother of two.
